About two months ago I was kind of desperate. I was walking my dogs only in the early hours, dreading meeting other dogs and having big problems to control them. I was on the verge of giving up as my body could not cope with the strength and energy it took to care for them. Right at that time I heard about Roman Gottfried offering online sessions for people who had trouble with their dogs. I grabbed the opportunity and never regretted it.
In a one hour setting I learned so much about my dogs, but mostly about myself, that with the tools Roman gave me I could start over again.
It worked so well that I gained a lot more confidence. Both Abby and Harley Quinn were gradually better behaved and more social towards other dogs. They were easier to handle and I liked walking them again. Sadly Abby killed a sheep and we had to put her down. After that I trained more and more with Harley to make sure that I would have a well trained dog that comes when called and is social towards other dogs.
We had our good days. F.i. when an aggressive, barking white Shepard came running up to us. She let me handle it and did not react. We had bad days and I would end up on my face as she would lunge at a dog while on leash. But every day was better.
Today was our final exam. I took her to the doggy beach and let her go and find her own way. We both did great. I put my trust in her which was hard for me because I was very afraid of her doing something to another dog. But I kept my fear at bay and gave her my trust. She was wonderful. She played with different dogs and packs of dogs. Sometimes a bit too rough but when corrected by the dogs she would stop and play less rough. She came when called and was super friendly towards other people. I was so proud!
Thank you, Roman Gottfried, for training and educating me and helping me understand my dog and give her what she needs. We are in no way finished training but this was for us the crucial part; her behaviour towards other dogs. I cried at the beach and I’m really, really proud of what she and I did together.
